HDSI: Finance Supervisor (GL and Tax)

This role is primarily responsible for managing all financial processes including tax reporting, planning, and compliance functions, not limited to corporate accounting activities, as well as improvement and development of internal control policies and procedures, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial management, and maintaining and developing accounting principles and practices to ensure accurate and timely financial reports. 

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments, communicate the effects of these developments to management and the tax team, and create strategies to capitalize on changes to tax legislation.
  • Secures financial operations by monitoring and approving financial processing, reporting, and auditing.
  • Complies with national and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising immediate superiors on needed action.
  • Manage the company’s book of accounts and preparation of reporting requirements which includes but is not limited to financial reports in compliance with accounting standards, taxation, and statutory regulations.
  • Facilitate and manage the preparation and review of the company’s tax returns and ensure accurate, timely remittance of taxes.
  • Provides proactive advice to immediate superiors on setting policies and procedures by studying best industry practices and procedures.
  • Recommend the development, modification, review, and implementation of accounting systems, reporting methods and controls, policies, and procedures to achieve optimum business benefits.
  • Ensure all financial information is updated timely and accurate, meeting all deadlines.
  • Provide support on audit requirements such as access to financial information and provision of reports and special tax-related projects.
  • Recommend tax strategies that align with business goals to identify tax savings and improve profitability.
  • Identifies and recommends updates to accounting processes and procedures and ensures that financial reports comply with generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards.
  • Develop and implement strategic tax planning for all local and national taxes and implement opportunities for process improvement in the company's tax procedures.
  • Prepare tax provisions schedules, returns, payments, and reports and maintain a company’s tax database.
  • Manage month-end/year-end closing and prepare financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and analyzing trends.
  • Manage the team; recruit, train, and evaluate as necessary; develop staff through formal and informal coaching, mentoring, appropriate assignments, and periodic performance reviews. Define and measure critical metrics and KPIs that accurately reflect the operational and financial performance of the team. Motivate staff to excel at what they do, to continue learning, and to support the company’s mission, vision, values, and culture.
  • Demonstrate leadership and management skills with the team to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance on deliverables.
  • Partner closely with other cross-functional teams to ensure the accomplishment of business objectives and consistent customer success. Build and maintain strong relationships within and across departments and with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Additional ad hoc responsibilities may be assigned.
Background and Qualifications
  • Graduate of Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • Must be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Minimum of 2 years experience handling Accounting, Audit, Tax, and Finance activities preferably at the Supervisory level
  • Solid knowledge in tax computation and government agencies reporting, keeping up to date with the latest statutory issuances and regulations
  • Preferably with experience using Netsuite or any Oracle software
  • Solid knowledge in using MS Office preferably Excel or Google sheet
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, practices, and standards.
