Medical Technologists work in a clinical laboratory setting where they perform tests on various bodily fluids, cells, and substances, and analyze the results to aid in the diagnosis or treatment of disease.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Analyze blood, urine, and other body fluids using manual or automated techniques
2. Conduct chemical analysis of body fluids to determine the presence of normal and abnormal components
3. Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment
4. Perform quality control checks and troubleshoot issues with the testing equipment
5. Prepare specimens for examination, using automated equipment and specialized laboratory techniques
6. Document all test procedures and results for future reference and reporting
7. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to interpret test results or ensure correct test selection
8. Follow safety guidelines and infection control procedures to handle samples and operate equipment
Background and Qualifications
1. Must be a Registered Medical Technologist
2. Can be male or female
3. Has excellent communication skills
