The Patient Care Officer (PCO) is in charge of registration and patient data processing, such as treatment records and related health benefit or insurance information (Netsuite), coding patient diagnosis along with requests for payments from the health benefit administrator (HBA) or insurance company (HMO). Additional tasks can also be the promotion of the clinic through flyering and other related activities.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Patient registration and identity validation
- Patient data processing such as treatment records and related health benefits or insurance information (Netsuite)
- Coding patient diagnosis along with requests for payments from the health benefits administrator (HBA) or insurance company (HMO); verifies insurance coverage and obtains approval
- Promotion of clinic services to different clients and accounts (ex. flyering and other related activities)
- Any task/s as assigned from time to time
Background and Qualifications
- Graduate of any business-related, healthcare, or allied medical course (e.g., BSBA, BS Nursing, Health Care Services NC II)
- At least 1 year of experience in billing, cashiering, or HMO processing in a clinic or hospital setting is an advantage
- Familiar with common HMO processes, LOA requests, and claims submission
- Basic knowledge in clinic billing systems, POS operations, and medical terminology
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and electronic medical record (EMR) systems
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling billing records and computations
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Trustworthy, organized, and able to handle confidential information with care
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks
- Willing to be assigned to clinic branches and flexible with shifting schedules, including weekends and holidays
